A Strategic Expansion Focused on Heat Pump Systems
On March 14th, Tongyi Heat Pump inaugurated its new advanced manufacturing and R&D facility in Zhaoqing (China), reinforcing its long-term commitment to high-efficiency heat pump systems, particularly based on R290 refrigerant technology.
The new site has been designed as an integrated innovation platform, combining:
- Intelligent production lines
- Dedicated performance and application laboratories
- System-level testing environments
Core focus areas include:
- R290 air-to-water heat pump development
- PV-direct driven heat pump systems
- Hybrid PV + storage + thermal integration
- Building-level energy systems
- High-temperature and industrial applications
This expansion supports Tongyi’s positioning in Europe as a technology-oriented heat pump manufacturer, aligned with regulatory and market demand.

Supporting Europe’s Energy Transition
The European HVAC market is rapidly evolving toward:
- Electrification of heating
- Natural refrigerants (R290)
- Integration with renewable energy systems
- Demand for high SCOP and low-noise operation
Tongyi’s current product roadmap—especially the R290 series—is directly aligned with these requirements, offering:
- High efficiency performance
- Compatibility with low-temperature heating systems
- Suitability for both new buildings and retrofit scenarios
The new facility strengthens Tongyi’s ability to deliver scalable, compliant solutions for the European market.

Integration with Smart Energy Ecosystems
A key theme presented during the event was the integration of heat pumps into multi-energy, digitally managed systems.
Tongyi showcased solutions combining:
- Heat pumps
- Photovoltaic systems
- Energy storage
- AI-based control platforms
In this context, Tongyi heat pumps are now compatible with the Huawei FusionSolar ecosystem.
This enables:
- Optimisation of self-consumption
- Intelligent load management
- Improved overall system efficiency
Tongyi is currently the only Chinese heat pump manufacturer integrated into this ecosystem, alongside selected European brands.

Innovation Beyond Conventional HVAC
Alongside its core heat pump developments, Tongyi also introduced a new concept system based on radiant cooling and heating.
While not a primary focus for the European market at this stage, it reflects Tongyi’s broader R&D direction toward:
- Alternative comfort delivery systems
- Low-air-movement indoor environments
- Integrated thermal control solutions
This highlights the company’s ambition to explore next-generation indoor climate concepts, beyond conventional HVAC approaches.
From Product Manufacturing to System Engineering
The opening of the Zhaoqing facility reflects a broader transformation:
➡️ From unit manufacturing
➡️ To integrated energy system engineering
For Europe, this evolution is critical.
Market demand is no longer limited to standalone heat pumps, but increasingly requires:
- System compatibility (PV, storage, EMS)
- Digital control integration
- Application-specific engineering
Tongyi’s strategy is to position itself within this shift as a reliable, system-oriented partner.
Regional Application Perspective: Asia-Focused Innovation
The newly introduced radiant cooling and heating concept (“3.0”) is particularly aligned with China and Southeast Asian markets, where cooling demand dominates and indoor comfort expectations differ from those in Europe. In these regions, solutions that minimise direct airflow, improve humidity control, and enhance perceived comfort in high-temperature climates are gaining traction.
For Tongyi, this development reflects a region-specific innovation approach, complementing its core focus on R290 heat pump systems in Europe while addressing the growing demand for advanced cooling solutions in Asia.

Outlook
With the new facility now operational, Tongyi strengthens its capability to:
- Scale R290 heat pump production
- Accelerate system-level innovation
- Support partners across European markets
At the same time, the company expands its innovation scope in Asia through advanced indoor climate concepts such as the radiant cooling and heating “3.0” system, addressing the specific needs of high-temperature and high-humidity environments in China and Southeast Asia.
