Cascade control allows multiple heat pumps to work together efficiently. The system can distribute the heating and domestic hot water load between the available units according to demand.

When activated, the function lowers the heat pump’s output while maintaining the minimum level of heating required by the system settings. During colder periods, it can also help protect the system and property against freezing.
Homeowners can activate holiday mode through the smart controller. This provides greater convenience, lowers unnecessary energy use and offers peace of mind while they are away.
Additional Heating Source Support
In particularly cold conditions or applications with higher heating demands, an additional heat source may be required.
Tongyi’s R290 heat pump supports integration with auxiliary equipment such as:
- An electric booster heater
- A backup boiler
- A solar thermal system
- A water tank heating element
The heat pump can activate the configured auxiliary source when additional heating capacity is needed. This helps maintain stable indoor temperatures and a reliable domestic hot water supply during periods of high demand.
A three-way valve also enables the system to switch between space heating and domestic hot water production. This provides greater flexibility for different household requirements.
Floor-Drying Function for Radiant Heating Systems
For newly installed radiant floor heating systems, Tongyi’s R290 heat pump includes a controlled floor-drying programme.
The function gradually adjusts the water temperature according to a defined heating cycle. This helps the floor screed dry correctly before the heating system begins normal operation.
A controlled drying process supports system commissioning and reduces the risk of damage caused by heating a new floor structure too quickly. A qualified installer should configure and supervise the programme according to the requirements of the flooring and screed manufacturer.
Smart and Flexible R290 Heating
